Finding Friendship

There are so many people I could pick from, but one that especially comes to mind is Deby Guzman-Buchness. She’s a fellow ’15 who went on the Theater FSP with me, but really the way I got to know her well was through working on a production of The Pillowman last spring. She directed and I stage managed, and I feel that it was one of the best stage management experiences I have had because we were able to collaborate so closely. I genuinely feel like that production brought us together as friends and collaborators. We would stay for hours after rehearsal talking about the show and our ideas for it, but we’d also laugh and bond over random shared experiences or silly stories. I think had it not been for that show, we would have continued to be friendly acquaintances, but not true friends. I’m very grateful to have gotten to know her so well through that show, and then later the FSP where we were in the same LAMDA group for all our classes. I feel like she’s someone whom I can turn to for real artistic, as well as personal, support.
